Ukrainian Foreign Minister Petro Poroshenko believes that a comprehensive free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU should be established.
He expressed this opinion at a meeting with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kyiv onJan. 26evening.
Answering a question about the possibility of establishing a free trade area excluding agricultural products, Poroshenko said: "If we are talking about the exclusion of food and agricultural products, it is not an agreement on free trade area."
He said there surely would be a transition period before the establishing a free trade area with the EU, but in future it should be deep and comprehensive, including agricultural products.
In the talks with the EU, Ukraine should defend its national interests and interests of its producers, Poroshenko believes. "My meetings with counterparts from the EU give grounds for optimism," he said.
