Ukraine and the European Union have outlined priorities on the implementation of the Ukraine-EU Association Agenda for 2010.
The director of the coordination bureau for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the Ukrainian government's secretariat, Vadym Triukhan, said at a briefing on Tuesday that after signing the Ukraine-EU Association Agenda, the sides had created a joint committee to monitor the implementation of reforms stipulated in the document.
He said that priorities for 2010 were set out at the first meeting of the committee on Tuesday.
"We considered several issues during our meeting," Triukhan said.
He said that Ukraine had informed the EU of the first results on the implementation of the agenda.
"We outlined around 80 priorities that will get attention in 2010," Triukhan said, adding that this does not mean that attention will be paid only to these priorities.
Director for Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus and Central Asia in the European Commission's Directorate-General for External Relations Gunnar Wiegand, in turn, said that the priorities concern the adaptation of Ukrainian law to EU legislation in many spheres.
The issue also concerns the fight against corruption, government procurement, the gas sector, the sphere of security, as well as sanitary protection of the population.
"We held this meeting to demonstrate at the political level that both sides are inclined to continue cooperating on clearly outlined steps. And we, as officials, received assurances that both [presidential] candidates had pledged to implement the course on bringing Ukraine closer with the EU," Wiegand said.
